Since April 2013, GP Care is thrilled to have recruited three apprentices and helped them to develop their skills and further their education and qualifications.
Sophie Newell joined us first in April 2013, Chloe Risdale followed in the July 2013 and we now welcome our newest addition to the team, Siân Whitehorn, who joined in June 2014.
After a year of hard work, both Sophie and Chloe have celebrated completing their apprenticeships and becoming permanent members of staff at GP Care. We asked them to write about their experience.
“When joining GP Care, we imagined our experiences to be more NVQ involved, for example, writing assessments, exams etc. however since starting at GP Care we have been more involved within the working environment and patient communication.
Our knowledge has grown regarding patient confidentiality and what happens behind the day to day running of services as well as expanding our skills on Microsoft programmes such as Microsoft Excel.
After completing our NVQ Business Admin Level 2 we have gained qualifications such as the NVQ itself plus Functional skills which include Maths, ICT and English.
We have many achievements we take pride in, these are:
- Passing our NVQ Level 2;
- Progressing on to do NVQ Level 3;
- Becoming permanent patient co-ordinators.
Patient feedback is important to us as it reflects how hard we work to make sure patients are satisfied.
In the future we both have similar career aspirations such as passing our Level 3 NVQ, progress on to do Level 4 NVQ (management) and managing a team. We feel our experience has helped us along our apprenticeship journey.”
Everyone at GP Care has been very impressed with the enthusiasm and work ethic of our apprentices and are very proud of them. To learn more about the apprenticeship scheme go to the Learn Direct website.
