GP Care Pharmacy acquires 5 pharmacies in North Somerset

We are delighted to announce that GP Care Pharmacy has acquired the entire issued share capital of the Skeeles chain of 5 pharmacies in North Somerset for an undisclosed sum.

The 5 pharmacies are expected to deliver significant profits that will be further enhanced from the development of innovative new services delivered from an easily accessible chain of branch pharmacies.

Roger Tweedale, Chief Executive of GP Care, commented that “GP Care Pharmacy is now making good progress in delivering the vision of integrated primary care and pharmacy and we look forward to delivering continued expansion by working with GP Care Member practices”.

Andrew Murray, Director of GP Care Pharmacy said “This acquisition is a real boost to GP Care Pharmacy and gives us a solid network from which to expand our already growing service base. I am looking forward to working through new service models with all of the local practices to ensure that we deliver the types of service needed for the local health economy. This heralds a new era in integration between General Practice and Pharmacy service providers.”

The five branches are located at:
·        Nailsea, Somerset Square;
·        Nailsea, High Street;
·        Pill;
·        Long Ashton; and
·        Backwell.

The pharmacies will continue to be branded Skeeles in the short term to effect a smooth transition to new ownership but will be branded as ‘GP Care Pharmacy’ in due course.

Following this acquisition GP Care Pharmacy now has six trading pharmacies plus two additional pharmacy licences which are also expected to become operational over the coming months.
