GP Care's Patient Record Network goes from strength to strength

GP Care's Patient Record Network ("PRN") has now been live for six months, encompasses over 400,000 records and continues to deliver benefits to patients in terms of improved care and to clinicians in terms of improved efficiency.

User Feedback
Regular feedback is being received from clinicians at each of University Hospitals Bristol Foundation Trust and North Bristol Trust (Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals) relating to the PRN.  This has included various development requests which, largely, GP Care has been able to respond to promptly and to take action on.  Here is a sample of verbatim feedback received from PRN users at the local hospitals:

“By using the PRN we were able to give the definitive treatment quickly.”

“From a safety point of view, this information is absolutely critical in ensuring the right patient gets the right drugs at the right time.”

“I can’t believe we have never had this system before and that there could be any reluctance to allow access in this fashion!”

Patient Feedback
The response from patients has been encouraging. The majority of patients have been very impressed that their key medical information is now available to appropriate clinical teams and, to date, there have been no reports of patients refusing the explicit consent which is required for clinicians to view their care record.
