GP Care's Community DVT Service Wins Thrombus Innovation Award

GP Care is delighted to announce that it's Community DVT Service has been honoured in this year's Thrombus Innovation Awards, picking up the 3rd place prize from a hotly contested shortlist.

The judging panel, fronted by Consultant Haematologist and editor of Thrombus journal, Peter Rose, was highly impressed by our comprehensive end-to-end service, which avoids 97% of our patients from ever having to attend hospital.

During the 4 years that the Community DVT Service has been operating, we have performed over 2,800 ultrasound scans and safely anticoagulated over 750 patients in the community. This innovative care pathway has helped to prevent an anticipated 11,000 hospital attendances, equating to savings to local commissioners of circa £2million.
