GP Care currently has a team of 3 employed and 9 contract ultrasonographers delivering ultrasound scanning services from local community settings such as health centres and specialist clinics. The ultrasonographers work with consultant radiologist overview to ensure high levels of clinical governance and care and to provide specialist advice where necessary.
The service is founded on modern, high specification and mobile ultrasound technology that can be brought to the patient rather than patients having to travel into hospitals.
Through its network of 94 practices, GP Care is able to offer multiple service delivery locations which give good geographical coverage for patients as well as excellent access in the form of good public transport and easy parking.
In addition to the community services, GP Care has a growing number of specialist contracts including provision of:
- General ultrasound services to patients at Eastwood Park Prison, South Gloucestershire;
- Specialist scanning services to private consultant practices; and
- Specialist services to private patients from a number of community based locations.
The accessibility of our service, together with the growing team of ultrasonographers, means that we are able to offer scans at very short notice.
There is significant potential to make ultrasound more accessible for patients in terms of location and timeliness and we hope to work with more Primary Care Trusts in the future.
